R|S obtains dismissal of lawsuit Against Legendary R & B Singer
In a lawsuit originally filed in the Wayne County Circuit Court and later removed to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, the firm obtained the complete dismissal of a lawsuit against a legendary R & B singer. The lawsuit arose out of concert which was to be held in 2005 in Detroit, Michigan and alleged that the singer and her managment company owed monies to a promoter after the show was cancelled. The firm, in conjunction with the singer's New York based counsel, established that a co-promoter, not the singer, cancelled the show and that the funds paid to the artist's managment company were non-refundable. As a result, the promoter agreed to dismiss the lawsuit, without the payment of any funds by the singer or her managment company.
